Kuranda Conservation Community Nursery participates in and can arrange planting of trees on public properties, such as the recent planting along Fairyland Drive bordering Kuranda College. The unsightly guinea grass and other weeds have been replaced with native trees and shrubs with their wonderful variety of greens, and shapes and sizes of leaves. As a bonus some of them produce flowers and most of them have fascinating and often colourful seeds, not to mention the striking pinks of new leaves.

Over the past few weeks, 700 students have enjoyed the experience of working at the Kuranda Conservation Community Native Plant Nursery and planting trees for the benefit of the Kuranda community along the Fairyland Road boundary of the Kuranda College.
They have converted the unsightly barrier of prickly guinea grass and wild raspberry into a wall of low growing, bushy, colourful native trees and erosion-resisting Lomandra. The revegetation project provides a border for the 4Ss project (Sustainable Society, Schools and Sawmills) timber growing project and the new playing fields at the school. The pictures tell the story.

We carry a large range of shrubs, trees, vines and small plants, and can advise on what to plant and where, and how to prepare for planting. Our volunteers are usually available on Saturday mornings, although other times may be arranged.
