Kuranda Conservation is an entirely volunteer organization whose objectives are to assist the community to use land in an ecologically sustainable way and to enhance natural biodiversity through education and demonstration.

We promote awareness of the environment required for the preservation of cassowaries including habitat protection and enhancement, and domestic and feral animal control. We participate in research to better understand the needs of this unique, umbrella species. If the cassowary survives then the other fauna and flora of our region will also.

We believe we’ll make good decisions about what we grow on our properties, what pets we keep, how we behave on the roads and bush tracks and how we design our towns and houses by measuring the impact our actions have on cassowary habitat in this part of the world.
